We're getting closer, just about three weeks until Spruce Fest at St. Paul Lutheran School.  Right now the schedule for the week of June 9 - 16 looks like this:
  • Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday from 1pm - 5pm
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 5pm - 9pm
  • Saturday from 9am - 3pm (with lunch provided!)
  • Additional hours may be added if needed, and we'd sure love to finish everything before the end of the week and have to cancel one of the days.

Here's the list of projects we hope to complete during Spruce Fest:
  • Lots of painting
    • Hall outside of computer room
    • Stairwells in upper grade building
    • Outside door at entrance "D"
    • Second grade classroom
    • Radiators in Mr. Beck's room
    • Around air conditioners in Kindergarten, First, and Second grade classrooms
  • General repairs
    • Fix the door frame between computer room and fourth grade classroom
    • Repair pot holes in alley
    • Fix rollup door in cafeteria
    • Put lock on cabinet in computer room
    • Sew holes in stage curtains
  • Install recessed tuition payment box in main hall outside school office
  • Move counter and clean out floor drains in cafeteria kitchen
  • Deep cleaning in a variety of areas
I'm reaching out to some folks who have skills in some of these areas to "lead" a project or two. If you are interested and think you can be a main point person for one of these items, please email me at sprucefest.stpaul@gmail.com or just call the school office and give Lynn a message for me.

But the biggest thing we need are volunteers to sign up for the different days and times.  No expertise needed, just a willingness to spend a few hours working (and maybe getting dirty to clean things up).

I've been asked about donations for the project.  We do have some money available for supplies and equipment.  But if you would like to make a financial contribution to the project, please contact Mr. Volkert directly.  He can answer any questions about donations.

Also, if you aren't able to work but want to help, let me know if you'd like to bring a snack or drinks for the work crew.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this project will come together.

What is Spruce Fest?

The second annual Spruce Fest at St. Paul Lutheran School will be held June 10 - 16, 2013.

Mr. Volkert has been keeping a list (and checking it twice) of maintenance needed around the school, as well as some special projects to make things brighter and cleaner around St. Paul.

So far our list of projects includes:

  • Painting hallway downstairs next to the cafeteria
  • Painting the stairwells in the "upper grade building"
  • Repairing bathrooms
  • Installing a secure tuition drop box near school office
  • Installing locking cabinet in computer room
  • General cleaning and maintenance
For my Boy Scout Eagle project I am coordinating the volunteers and schedule.  I'll also be leading one of the project to paint the downstairs hallway with help from Troop 705.

What do we need:
  • Volunteers
  • Donations of supplies or food for snacks, bottled water
Some projects will take place during the day, others will take place in the evening or on the weekend.  Schedule will depend on volunteer availability and when the crew leaders are available.

As we get closer to the date, I'll post updates here, in the school WIRE, church bulletin, and on Facebook.
I'll be at the St. Paul Fun Fair on Saturday March 9 if you want to sign up to help or get more information.

Thanks for supporting St. Paul Lutheran School.
